Women Supporting Women

Women supporting women is not just a feel-good slogan, but it is a crucial factor in the success of a business. Whether it's through providing encouragement, skill-sharing, collaboration, networking, or emotional support, women who support each other can create a powerful force that helps them overcome obstacles and achieve their goals. When women support each other, they can build strong relationships, foster creativity and innovation, and create a more inclusive and equitable business environment.

Happy International Women's Day! Today we celebrate the incredible achievements and contributions of women throughout history and across the globe. It is a day to recognize the progress that has been made towards gender equality, while also acknowledging the challenges that still exist. On this day, we honor the women who have paved the way for future generations, and we pledge to continue working towards a world where every woman has the opportunity to reach her full potential. So, on this special day, I would like to share a little of how impactful women supporting other women has been in my journey with the beginnings of Welcome Wreath Jubilant Designs.

Starting a small business can be challenging, especially for women. However, one of the key factors that can help women succeed in their entrepreneurial journey is the support of other women. When women support each other, amazing things can happen!

Encouragement and Inspiration: When women support each other, they can provide a much-needed boost of encouragement and inspiration. For example, a fellow female entrepreneur may share her own experiences and success stories to help motivate and inspire someone to start their own business. For me, Sarah Sewell, was my biggest encourager in moving forward with a new business and believing in me! She is not only a female entrepreneur, but the CEO of Make and Flourish and an incredible person! Sarah possesses beautiful humanitarian qualities as a wife, mother, friend and CEO. Her philanthropic spirit exceeds that of most and she provides incredible opportunities for women to flourish! I am extremely grateful for the Flourish community and ALL that Sarah has done to cheer me on. Welcome Wreath Jubilant Designs would not be in existence if it weren’t for Sarah!

Skill-sharing and Collaboration: Women who support each other can also collaborate and share their skills and knowledge. For example, a woman who is skilled at wreath-making may share her techniques and tips with someone who is just starting out. I am extremely grateful for Jenny with Jenny’s Wreath Boutique for sharing her wealth of knowledge with others who feel led to have their own wreath making business.

Networking and Promotion: Women who support each other can also help each other with networking and promotion. For example, a woman who has a successful handmade artisan wreath business may recommend a fellow female entrepreneur to her own customers or share her business on social media.

Emotional Support: Starting a small business can be a rollercoaster of emotions, with both highs and lows. When women support each other, they can provide emotional support during tough times and celebrate each other's successes. The female emotional rocks behind my business are my dear, recently deceased Aunt, my cousin (also a small business owner) and my sister by another mother. Without the daily encouragement of these women, I am not sure I could have sustained the challenges of starting a small business. Their honesty and constructive feedback was exactly what I needed and still need to stay sane!

In conclusion, women supporting women is not just a feel-good slogan, but it is a crucial factor in the success of a business. As we celebrate International Women's Day, let us continue to support and empower each other, and work towards a future where every woman can thrive in business and all aspects of their lives.
